Membership Information

Once you have auditioned and been accepted as a member of Meritáge and/or Southern California Master Chorale, an exciting and satisfying musical experience awaits you. Here are some of the guidelines of Meritáge/SCMS membership:

Rehearsals are regularly on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 PM to 10:00 PM. They are held at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4321 Cerritos Ave. in Cypress. During concert weeks, other daytime or evening rehearsals are scheduled according to orchestra we are working with and the venue in which we are performing (usually two orchestral rehearsals and a dress rehearsal). In addition, one or two all day Saturday (10 AM–4 PM) rehearsals are scheduled during the season. For professional performance, there is no substitute for weekly practice and consistent attendance. We expect that each member will attend every rehearsal and, in addition, practice their music each week outside of rehearsal.

As a member of Meritáge you are automatically a member of SCMC and are therefore expected to perform in all SCMC events. Should you need to miss a performance, you must contact Dr. Ball directly as far in advance as possible. If you need to miss a rehearsal for any reason, there will be an absence form to be completed and turned in to Dr. Ball in advance of the missed rehearsal.

There are no dues to be involved in either of these groups. Each member is expected to sell a minimum of 2 tickets to each concert produced by Meritáge or SCMC.

Each member will be responsible for the purchase of the appropriate concert attire.

Each member is re-auditioned annually.
