2010-2011 SEASON AUDITIONS
The Southern California Master Chorale and Meritáge, under the direction of Dr. Sheridan Ball, are holding auditions for our 2010-2011 season. We're looking for experienced choral singers with good sight reading ability in all voice parts. This is a cutting edge and versatile group of talented singers. Join a unique and diverse community of people who have come together as a result of their passion for music.
We'll provide you with challenging, diverse and joyful singing experiences. You'll join us in sharing a rich variety of choral music with our audiences... in meeting new friends... traveling to new places... and enriching your life through choral music.
All singers are invited to rehearse with the Starlight Carolers and learn the vast repertoire of carols that are used by this group. From this group of singers Dr. Ball and a small panel will choose quartets, octets and other size groups depending on the needs of the person hiring us for a caroling job.
Auditions are by appointment.
To set up an audition time, please call Dr. Ball at 714 633-5284
Who should audition?
All voice parts are welcome to audition.
Although you are not required to have had formal voice lessons, all members are expected to be able to sing on pitch, in accurate rhythm, and to have good sight-singing ability.
To be considered for Southern California Master Chorale or Meritáge you should have had previous choral experience in a large or small group with performances of some of the major classical choral works. Any singer is welcome to audition for Starlight Carolers.
The audition consists of singing a prepared piece (please bring music for the accompanist), a pitch matching exercise, a sight-singing exercise, and some vocalizing to determine your range. Also, relax! All of us have gone through what you will be going through. It is the necessary evil before the wonderful experience of making beautiful music.
To schedule an audition, please call Dr. Ball at (714)633-5284 or send an email. Please include your name, voice part, phone number(s), email address, and times when you can be reached.
